Photography rooted in plant science.
Hi! I’m Jessie Stevens - The Photo Botanist - a photographer with over 25 years behind the lens and a Bachelor’s of Science in Green House Science. I’m part photographer, part plant lady and fully dedicated to capturing the quiet poetry of plants and the people who cultivate them.
My career has been anything but linear—rooted in both art and science, from photographing hundreds of weddings and family portraits to working in greenhouse crop science and public gardening at the Chicago Botanic Garden. This unique blend of experience allows me to see plants through a scientific and artistic lens. I understand the rhythm of a growing season, the dance of light in a hoop house and the fleeting moment when a bloom reaches its peak.
Customers see the product but want to know the person.
Behind the plants are the people—the aging hands, the winter mornings spent seeding, the labor of digging irrigation lines, and all the unseen stories that unfold beyond the customer’s eye. It’s these stories that turn casual buyers into a community of loyal followers. I tell the stories of growers and farmers in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
I also sell my imagery for editorial and commercial licensing designed to bring thoughtful nature inspired visuals to interiors, publication, brands and more.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me on the soccer field, on a joy ride in an old car with my husband or escaping it all in my own backyard.
